What types of IoT data would enrich the lives of urban citizens?

(Mitchell Dull) #1

With the onset of the “smart city” movement, what data from connected sensors can be opened up and distributed to help the average citizen have a better interaction with his or her city? What could we do with all of this data?

The new linkNYC terminals are collecting massive amounts of data from foot traffic to browsing usage. How do you think this sensor data can improve city experience?

@mitchdull what data would you like to see?

Is this for a research project?

(Mitchell Dull) #3

@noneck Yes I am currently an intern for Verizon researching how IoT data can help facilitate the citizen/government interaction!

In particular, I am interested in hearing what kind of sensor data would be useful for the civic hacking community?

@mitchdull How about vehicular and cyclist counts?
