Upsolve is a nonprofit technology startup that helps low-income Americans get a fresh start after financial shocks. We do this by automating Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Last year, at least 19 million American households would have benefitted from filing for bankruptcy but fewer than half a million did file. Earlier this year, we won the university-wide Harvard President’s Challenge as the top social impact startup. We’ve also been lucky to receive financial support from the Robin Hood Foundation, Princeton, Yale, and the Legal Services Corporation, which is funding our upcoming national expansion. To date, we have erased about $2,000,000 in debt for low-income New Yorkers. Here is an article about our work in the Wall Street Journal.

Upsolve is hiring a front end engineer who knows React and Python. If you or anyone you know is excited about using technology to fight poverty, we’d love to hear from you. Strong design skills are important. The position is New York-based, and pay is competitive with market rates.
