I think this might be of interest to you – The City of New York and Citymart have opened the Student Data Challenge, a Call for Innovations (CFI) to find data scientists and enthusiasts that can help build new data models and predictive tools to more accurately project future public school student population trends and changes in communities. The CFI will help create more accurate predictions of New York’s student population, helping the Department of Education more efficiently plan for increased enrollment so that all students have equal access to the resources they need.
Finalists will receive a $5,000 prize, while the most exemplary model will go on to win a $15,000 prize and the opportunity to meet with the NYC Department of Education leadership. The deadline to sign up to participate is 11:59 P.M. on October 28, 2016. To find out more, please visit: nyc.gov/cfi/doe.
If you are interested in participating, contact Citymart’s Philippa Parry at firstname.lastname@example.org and she can give you support in submitting.
